Building blocks manufacturer Lignacite has hauled itself back into profit after securing Olympic contract, the Eastern Daily Press reports.
They’re just one of the many businesses who have defeated the recession thanks to the Olympic Park development.
Stratford City will be looking at other businesses like Lignacite in the coming weeks, but in the mean time, here’s what their managing director Giles de Lotbiniere had to say:
“This has been vital work which has kept us going. Last year was a difficult time with the recession and the Olympic work continues to be important work this year with the government making so many cuts elsewhere, particularly in school building.
“Last year the Olympics work was probably worth about £1m. It won’t be quite that much this year but it won’t be far short.”
Good news, then, for the company which suffered a loss of just over half a million pounds in 2009.
